Shannen Doherty Offers List of People She Does Not Want at Her Funeral

Shannen Doherty started her acting career in 1981, but her profile blew up in the 1990s when she was a cast member of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” a show that became iconic at the time.

There has been both good and bad written about her since then, so it was no surprise to see a dying request made by Doherty, who is currently suffering from cancer.

Doherty recently offered up the names of people who she does not want to be at her funeral.

A Dying Request

Doherty has Stage 4 Breast Cancer, which has now metastasized to both her brain and bones.

Her funeral is now top of mind, with Doherty stating, "It's come up a couple of times, but it really came up when I was about to go in for brain surgery in January.

"I didn't think that I was going to make it. I redid my will and I made sure everything was like super clear."

One of those requests is who she wants at her funeral, stating, "I was pleasantly surprised at my dad's [funeral] of who showed up. But it made me start thinking about who would show up to mine. And there's a lot of people that I think would show up that I don't want there.

"I don't want them there. Because the reasons for showing up aren't necessarily the best reasons.

"They don't actually really like me enough to show up to my funeral. But they will, because it's the politically correct thing to do, and they don't want to look bad. And so, I kind of want to take that pressure off of them."

I have to say, having seen her comments in the past, that request does not surprise me at all about Doherty.

While “90210” will always be associated with Doherty, she was well on her way before that show aired.

She had already had a recurring role in “Little House on the Prairie” and “Our House,” as well as numerous film roles.

“90210,” however, put her in a whole new category, now considered an A-list star, landing her a role on “Charmed” as well as dozens of movie roles, amassing 85 credits, with several projects still to be released.

Doherty stated that she hopes to stay alive for at least another three to five years in the hopes that there will be a cure for cancer in that time, but once it has gotten to this level, the sand is just about out of that hourglass.
