Shakira cancels second world tour show
According to Newsweek, Colombian superstar Shakira began her world tour earlier this year but has already been forced to cancel two shows in less than two weeks.
This year, Shakira began a world tour to promote her 2024 album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, but has already canceled two gigs in the first two weeks, as Newsweek reported.
On Monday, February 24, the 48-year-old singer canceled her Medellín performance. On Sunday, February 23, Shakira revealed on X (previously Twitter) that the event will not take place as planned.
"My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to," she wrote in the message, which was originally written in Spanish.
Cancelation Details
Her two kids, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, were accompanied by her on the trip, and she mentioned that they were "excited to get to know Medellín." She continued by saying, "I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for them."
A 15-time Latin Grammy winner, she tweeted, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled," while offering her heartfelt regret to fans for the cancellations.
"Although neither my production team nor I can control the situation, I have faith that we will soon be able to choose a new day to celebrate together. Your unfailing encouragement is something for which I will be eternally thankful. "
In the final words from her announcement, she told fans "I love you very much and I hope to see you very soon."
Concert Concern
On Saturday, February 22, it was reported that the show was canceled owing to safety concerns. The same day, event organizer Páramo Presenta explained the decision.
"During the assembly process of the show scheduled for February 24, the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that puts at risk the safety of the artist, her staff and, most importantly, that of the audience," Páramo Presenta admitted.
The promotor went on to note that "the promoter and the artist's team are working together and hope to reschedule the date in the future."
Later in the statement, the event organizers explained, "We understand that this decision may be annoying for the public who were anxiously awaiting the show, but the most important thing is everyone's safety."
