Senator Scott believes AOC was in ‘violation of the law’
Over the last few weeks, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) made headlines for reposting a video that showed illegals how to avoid apprehension by ICE as well as explaining their “rights.”
There has been a call from Republicans to have her investigated, but Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) has taken it a step further.
Scott says it “sure seemed” as though AOC had broken the law.
Breaking the Law
In mid-February, AOC reposted a video from Genia Blaser, a lawyer with the Immigrant Defense Project, titled “Know Your Rights.”
Blaser outlined when ICE conducts its raids, how they stop cars, etc. AOC added, “Believe it or not, in America EVERYONE has rights.”
The video offered tips such as not opening the door, and denying ICE access unless they had a warrant for a search.
Another speaker in the video, Laura, claimed that ICE “very, very, rarely” obtains judicial warrants.
She added, “But they often use ruses or intimidation to try to trick people into doing or saying things that they can interpret as consent to enter [a private space].”
When Senator Scott was asked about the video posted by AOC, he responded, “We’re supposed to uphold the Constitution, not tell people how, you know, to evade the Constitution.”
He later added, “So, I think, it sure seemed like she’s violating the law.”
People on the left seem to forget that the moment you enter this country illegally, you have broken the law and are considered a criminal, which is key to this entire narrative.
If AOC is knowingly helping criminals evade capture, that would fall under aiding and abetting.
Scott pushed that narrative, stating, “Look, we need to have equal protection and equal enforcement of the law. And if she’s done something wrong, I hope Tom Homan does his job and, you know, prosecutes her to the full extent of the law.”
Homan is Trump’s border czar, who, in my opinion, has been doing an exceptional job.
AOC has since demanded that the DOJ tell her if she is under investigation, writing, “It has been 14 days since Mr. Homan first threatened to weaponize your agency, but I have not yet heard any referral from the federal government.
“Homan’s actions undercut core Constitutional rights and further transparency is necessary.”
Of course, we all know nothing will ever happen to her because Republicans, for the most part, are spineless when it comes to stuff like this, but I think a real case can be made that AOC is in violation of the law.
Sadly, we have far too many people in Congress with a D next to their name who are more interested in looking out for criminals and illegals than they are tax-paying, law-abiding citizens.
