Senator Fetterman continues to rebuke own party
U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) continues to speak out against his own Democratic Party.
Fetterman, according to Fox News, has especially been vocal in the past week or so, since President Donald Trump's address to Congress.
Talk, however, is one thing, and action is another. The big question is whether Fetterman is ready to back his talk up with his voting in the upper chamber. We'll take a look at this in a moment.
First, however, we'll look at what Fetterman has been saying.
"Sad"
Fetterman has come out swinging following Trump's Congressional address, slamming his fellow Democrats for the way the acted - including their decision to basically ignore a 13-year-old cancer survivor.
Fetterman has referred to the Democrats' post-address actions as "a sad cavalcade of self owns and unhinged petulance."
He ridiculed his fellow Democrats for referring to themselves as "#TheResistance," pointing out how, by resistance, the Democrats apparently mean such things as "Snubbing a 13-year-old cancer survivor." He also highlighted the Democrats' recent and "bizarre pick your fighter videos."
Fetterman went on to write, "Hold our beer: Government Shutdown! Never, never, never vote for a shutdown—ever."
Fetterman, recently, has also slammed Democrats for their opposition to Trump's decision to cut of Columbia University's $400 million in federal grants, following the anti-semitism controversy. Talk, though, as they say, is cheap.
So, how has he been voting?
Fox News released a report, over the weekend, showing that while Fetterman "has established . . . reputation in the Senate – as someone willing to stand against his own party . . . this hasn't necessarily lined up with his voting record, particularly on key issues."
The outlet goes on to provide some examples, such as the way Fetterman recently voted on a piece of legislation that was intended to stop biological males from participating in women's and girl's sports.
Fox reports, "Every Democratic senator present, including Fetterman, recently voted to block a bill from moving forward which would have barred men from women's sports."
"The measure is supported by the vast majority of Americans, per recent polling by the New York Times and Ipsos. In fact, 67% of Democrats agreed with Republicans that biological males shouldn't be allowed to participate in female sports," the outlet adds.
The safe conclusion to draw here is that, while Fetterman is certainly a Democrat - and while he will certainly vote with Democrats most of the time - he is less willing to join in the Democrats' rhetoric.
