Senator Cotton Slams Harris and Biden for Being AWOL

One would think that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden would have gone to the ceremony to honor our 13 fallen from the Afghanistan withdrawal.

It was not Harris, nor was it Joe Biden, but it was Donald Trump, who has since been attacked and accused of going as a political stunt.

Well, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) set the record straight, and he did not hold back.

Setting the Record Straight

Trump was actually invited to the event by the Gold Star families of the Afghanistan fallen.

And yes, there were cameras there, but anytime a politician goes to Arlington there are cameras.

And while nobody is talking about it, Joe Biden used a shot from him laying a wreath during the 2020 campaign.

The picture was actually taken while he was VP, and there was a disclaimer from the DOD that it did not imply an endorsement, but it was a campaign ad of Biden at Arlington.

And for the record, this was not a campaign event, but an invitation where the Gold Star families asked Trump to take pictures with them.

Cotton went off about it, but he did get one point wrong, which I will address in a second.

Cotton responded to the attacks against Trump, stating, “These families — Gold Star families — whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ incompetence, invited him to the cemetery, and they asked him to take those photos.”

He continued, “You know who those families also invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

“Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, DC.

“She was 4 miles away — 10 minutes. She could’ve gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she hasn’t.

“She never has spoken to them or taken a meeting with them.”

As far as I can tell, Harris and Biden were not invited, as every statement from family members defending Trump indicated they had only invited Trump, but that still does not excuse the fact that Biden and Harris have never reached out to these people.

Members of the families of seven of the fallen also defended Trump in a joint statement, saying, “We, the families of the brave service members who were tragically killed in the Abbey Gate bombing, are appalled by Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent attempts to politicize President Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

“President Trump was invited by us, the Gold Star families, to attend the solemn ceremonies commemorating the three-year anniversary of our children’s deaths.

“He was there to honor their sacrifice, yet Vice President Harris has disgracefully twisted this sacred moment into a political ploy.”

I think that settles that little controversy.
