Senator Bob Casey Finally Concedes Race Called Weeks Ago
The Associated Press called the PA Senate race on November 7 in favor of Republican challenger Dave McCormick.
Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), however, suddenly turned into an election denier under the guise of saying he was not going to concede out of respect for voters whose ballots had not yet been counted.
On Thursday, two weeks after the election had been called, Casey finally called McCormick to concede the race.
It’s Over
The race between Casey and McCormick went down the wire, with McCormick holding about a 30,000 vote lead with only 90,000 ballots remaining to be counted when the race was called.
However, the outstanding ballots were from counties that were not Democrat strongholds, so there was no realistic way that Casey could make up that deficit.
Even so, Casey said it would be disrespectful to voters to concede the race before all ballots have been counted, even though the standard is to concede once the race has been called.
That brings us to Thursday, where Casey finally gave up and conceded the race.
On Thursday, Casey posted a video to his X account, declaring, “I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate.
“As the first count of ballots is completed, Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard, whether their vote was the first to be counted or the last.”
This righteous warrior nonsense is sickening, as this was Casey’s last stand to grab some headlines.
All he did was delay the inevitable, as even state election officials trying to count invalid ballots was not enough to put him over the top.
McCormick responded to the concession, “Senator Bob Casey dedicated his career to bettering our commonwealth. Dina and I want to extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Casey, Terese, and their family for their decades of service, hard work, and personal sacrifice.”
