Senate Judiciary Committee to Hold Meeting on Presidential Immunity
After the Supreme Court issued its ruling on presidential immunity, Democrats decided to spin this narrative completely out of control.
Sadly, the liberal justices were part of this, with Sotomayor writing that a president could now use SEAL Team 6 to take out an opponent without fear of prosecution, which is completely idiotic.
So, to score points in the upcoming election, Majority Leader Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced that the Senate would introduce legislation on the issue.
Scoring Points
The Judiciary Committee is chaired by Senator Dick Durbin (IL), who announced the hearing this week.
He stated, "During this upcoming hearing, we will examine the breadth of future misconduct that may be immunized from prosecution, consider the unprecedented nature of this immunity in American history, and discuss legislative solutions to the dangers of this decision.
“This dangerous decision immunizes presidents who commit crimes, no matter how serious, as long as they claim their offenses were 'official acts.'"
It would not be up to the president to declare the acts as “official acts” in regard to prosecution; that issue would be settled by the courts.
Point being, this legislation is nothing more than a statement piece because Schumer and Durbin know the legislation will never get passed in the House.
Democrats will then use this as a way to attack the Republicans and Trump in the election.
I would pretty much guarantee that once the measure passes through the Senate and fails in the House, Dems will say that the MAGA wing of the GOP blocked the legislation to ensure Trump could make himself a king and abuse his office if he wins the election.
What they won’t say, however, is that the court made it quite clear that not every act by a sitting president is an official act.
Rest assured, if any president ever tried to send out a SEAL Team 6 unit to kill a political opponent, he or she would be immediately removed from office and put on trial.
This is just an idiotic narrative being created with our tax dollars to help Dems win in the upcoming election.
