Senate Dems force through more Biden judicial nominees
Democrats in the U.S. Senate continue to push through more of President Joe Biden's judicial nominees.
Fox News reports that the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Friday, advanced another five nominees.
This comes after Democrats were handed a huge defeat in the 2024 presidential election, losing the presidency, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives.
It may not sound as though the appointment of five more of Biden's judicial nominees is a big deal, but it is. Please read on to see why.
Five more
Senate Democrats have been working overtime to push Biden's judicial nominees through.
Politico reports:
Senate Democrats confirmed the Biden administration’s 220th lifetime appointment to the federal judiciary on Wednesday — and are poised to add to that total as they wind down their time in Washington before Thanksgiving.
Fox reports that the Democrats went back to work on Thursday, looking to push another five through. They already got these nominees through the judiciary committee. Next, the full Senate will vote on whether or not to confirm them.
Senate Democrats are expected to continue pushing judicial nominees through until the very last moment.
Politico reports, "Beyond that, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will have half a dozen more nominees primed for final Senate approval — though the actual confirmations won’t take place until after Thanksgiving."
"Stack the courts"
If you have ever read a new article in which it was written that "an Obama judge did this," or "a Biden judge did that," then you know just how important this whole situation is
Arguably, the president's appointment of judges to the federal judiciary has to be one of his most important powers, since this could have a profound effect on the direction that the country takes. This is why every president tries to squeeze in as many nominations as they can - especially when they have a favorable Senate, as Biden currently does.
President-Elect Donald Trump has accused Democrats of trying to "stack the courts" with far-left nominees. In response, he has called for his fellow Republicans in the Senate to "hold the line."
"The Democrats are trying to stack the Courts with Radical Left Judges on their way out the door. Republican Senators need to Show Up and Hold the Line — No more Judges confirmed before Inauguration Day!" he wrote.
Fox News, however, notes, "Republicans have fought several of [Biden's] nominees on grounds that they are too left-wing, but a number of Biden's appointments were confirmed after GOP senators missed votes."
