Senate confirms Trump Interior Secretary nominee Doug Burgum on 79-18 vote
The Senate confirmed President Donald Trump's nominee for Interior Secretary on a surprisingly easy 79-18 vote following multiple bitterly contested nominations for other key positions.
The Senate voted to confirm North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum on a bipartisan 79-18 vote that saw a large faction of Democrat Senators reluctantly crossing party lines to support Burgum.
The vote confirms Burgum as the man who will be in charge of enacting President Trump's game-changing energy policy which will feature ramped-up energy sourcing, likely in the form of expanded oil drilling.
Burgum unsuccessfully ran for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination but was unable to drum up interest from conservative voters.
However, Burgum made sure not to burn bridges and while his presidential aspirations went nowhere, he managed to land himself an important position in what will be a historic administration.
"Drill, Baby, Drill"
Burgum's path to confirmation was easy at all stages as his nomination left the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee with just two votes opposing him.
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) were the only votes against advancing his nomination which is a testament to how badly Democrats have been beaten down in the Senate.
Democrats simply could not put up much defense against Burgum's nomination due to having to pick fights over Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth who ended up being confirmed 51-50 after Vice President JD Vance cast the tiebreaking vote.
That didn't stop Senator Wyden from railing against Burgum saying, "I cannot support these nominees who will carry out Trump’s policies that throw out America’s greatest advantages."
Burgum made Senate Democrat's job harder by repeatedly stating he believed in "climate change" but also made it clear that he would be pushing Trump's energy policies stating that “We live in a time of tremendous abundance, and we can access that abundance by prioritizing innovation over regulation."
Where Democrats want to crush American energy, Burgum wants to expand American energy while "prioritizing innovation" in order to ensure safety and, of course, protect the environment.
People First Policy
During his hearings in the Senate, Burgum explained, "We are in an energy crisis in our country, and the first place is actually related to electricity. Electricity is at the brink; our grid is at a point where it could go completely unstable. We could be just months away from having skyrocketing prices for Americans."
The Biden administration prioritized environmental concerns to the point that energy prices have skyrocketed and our infrastructure is in critical danger.
Under Burgum's leadership, the Department of the Interior will pursue an energy policy that prioritizes Americans by tapping into natural resources while continuing to evolve technology to ensure clean air and environments.
