Senate Confirms Brooke Rollins to lead USDA

Donald Trump and his nominees just keep on rolling, and our president's pick to lead the United States Department of Agriculture.

Newsmax reports that Brooke Rollins has been confirmed by America's Senate as the new head of the Department of Agriculture.

Rollins is a longtime ally of Donald Trump who formerly served as White House policy advisor and has expressed doubt about climate change in the past.

She will lead an agency with 100,000 employees that oversees things like farm programs, food benefits, and public school lunches.

This is a tough job, but Donald Trump thinks his friend is capable.

Her appointment comes during a period of low income for farmers, looming cuts to domestic food aid, and an aggressive campaign to reduce the federal workforce by the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk.

After the Senate Agriculture Committee unanimously voted to advance Rollins, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm her by a 72-28 margin.

Despite knowing she's facing a difficult task, Rollins appears ready to attack the challenges head-on.

"It is the honor of a lifetime to serve as the nation’s thirty-third Secretary of Agriculture — and a privilege beyond description to have the trust of President Donald J. Trump, and the opportunity to advance his agenda. I am thrilled to lead the United States Department of Agriculture and to serve the people of this country," she said after being confirmed.

"Every day, I will fight for American farmers, ranchers, and the agriculture community. Together, we have a historic opportunity to revitalize rural America and to ensure that U.S. Agriculture remains the best in the world for generations to come."

Donald Trump had high praise for Rollins when he nominated her:

"Brooke's commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns is second to none."

Rollins has proven to Trump before that she can get the job done.

According to Newsmax, "Rollins was acting director of the White House Domestic Policy Council in Trump's first administration, and then led the America First Policy Institute, a Trump-aligned policy group."
