Sen. Josh Hawley Endorses Trump for President

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) endorsed former President Donald Trump, adding to a growing list of Republican supporters of his campaign.

Hawley became the 18th senator to endorse Trump in his comeback bid for the White House next year.

“President Trump doesn’t need to worry. I’m with him. He's asked me several times to support him. I said yes. And I've been saying for a year that I think he's gonna be the nominee. I support him. I'm gonna vote for him,” Hawley said.

“Don't worry — you can put me down as support, endorsed, stand with," he added.

"Earlier, Mr. Hawley said he thinks President Trump would surely win the Republican nomination but stopped short of officially declaring his endorsement," the Epoch Times reported.

"That has now changed, with Mr. Hawley's announcement making him the 18th Republican senator to endorse the former president's comeback bid for the White House," it continued.

The endorsement also comes as Democrats seek to target Hawley's seat in Missouri as part of its strategy to retain a majority in the Senate.

Some considered the clear endorsement of Trump as an effort to secure his conservative voting base in the largely Republican state to help cut off concerns ahead of next year.

Several other GOP senators have yet to declare their support for Trump. Some are waiting until after primaries while a few may refuse to support the former president at all.

The latest move from Hawley, however, shows that most senators see Trump becoming the candidate and are ready to express their support in the effort to defeat President Joe Biden in 2024.
