Secret Service Director Refusing to Step Down
Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle has been facing calls for her resignation ever since the failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
Her finger-pointing did not help her case, but neither did the fact that she is now making lame excuses as to why that rooftop was not covered.
Even so, when asked if she would stay at her post, she said she had no intention of stepping down.
Clock is Ticking
Initially, Cheatle tried to point the finger at local police, stating, “In this particular instance, we did share support for that particular site and that the Secret Service was responsible for the inner perimeter. And then we sought assistance from our local counterparts for the outer perimeter.
“There was local police in that building — there was local police in the area that were responsible for the outer perimeter of the building.”
Cheatle did finally admit that the buck stops with her because even if local police are working an area, they are supposed to be following a strategic protection plan developed by the Secret Service.
If Cheatle turned over that aspect of the plan to local police, she should be fired right now (I actually believe she should have already been terminated).
Cheatle was openly asked if she would stay at her post amid the calls for her resignation, but she defiantly stated that she had no plans to go anywhere.
When a new president comes into office, there are certain posts that, as long as they are running well, allow the Director to stay in place.
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the directors of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies are usually safe from the hook.
Rest assured, that will not be the case if Joe Biden loses to Donald Trump.
If you recall, during the debate, Donald Trump called out Biden for not firing people during his administration when they clearly dropped the ball.
So, rest assured, along with the Director of the FBI, Cheatle will be among the first called in to be given her walking papers if Trump is elected to office.
She would be very smart to start updating her resume and work on her resignation letter because Cheatle is now on the clock.
