Secret Service Agent Accidentally Shoots Himself

The embarrassing headlines for the Secret Service continue.

The latest is a story that popped up over the weekend of a Secret Service agent accidentally shooting himself.

The injuries are not life-threatening, and the agent is expected to recover.

Oops

According to the agency, the agent had a "negligent discharge" while handling his weapon.

The shooting took place around 8:00 p.m., with the agency stating that no other agents or civilians were harmed in the incident.

This is just one in a long line of issues that the Secret Service has had to deal with recently.

The first assassination attempt of Donald Trump continues to draw scrutiny for the agency over how many protocols were neglected during the event.

The agency has ample opportunity to grab the shooter long before he took a shot, as well as preventing Trump from going on stage, but we all know what happened.

The second assassination attempt was not much better, with more security protocols either ignored or called off.

For instance, a routine perimeter check or overhead drone would have spotted the shooter long before Trump ever arrived, but neither appears to have been done.

Of course, there was also the incident during Kamala Harris's appearance when agents broke into a local business to use the bathroom.

Not only did they break in, but they also disarmed the security cameras and left the business open after they left.

The agency has also been ducking congressional inquiries, which has members on both sides of the aisle calling foul.

Whatever the problem is with the USSS, something needs to be done to correct it, and it needs to be done ASAP.
