Second GOP Candidate Drops Out of Presidential Race

The GOP race has one less candidate in the race.

Will Hurt, who most of you probably did not even realize was in this race, has now suspended his campaign.

The reason this an interesting story, however, is that he endorsed Nikki Haley over DeSantis.

He’s Out

Hurd was barely a blip on the radar, having only 0.1% support in polling. And yes, I realize how low that is, but the fact he endorsed Nikki Haley is curious with DeSantis being the frontrunner among all candidates other than Trump.

In announcing the suspension of his campaign, Hurd stated, "Our nation deserves a leader who can unite us and navigate the complex challenges we face, particularly when it comes to our national security. I believe Ambassador Nikki Haley is the best person in this race to do that.”

He went on to take a shot at Donald Trump as well, saying that Haley "has shown a willingness to articulate a different vision for the country than Donald Trump and has an unmatched grasp on the complexities of our foreign policy. I wholeheartedly endorse Ambassador Haley and look forward to supporting her for the remainder of this race."

Haley responded, "America is at a crossroads and it's time to come together and make Joe Biden a one-term president. Thank you @WillHurd for your support and confidence. We have a country to save!"

So, if we are being honest, Haley has no shot at winning this election, although I do expect her to do fairly well in early states if she stays on her own.

All that will accomplish, however, is taking votes away from DeSantis.

Let’s just assume that everyone but Haley, DeSantis, and Ramaswamy has dropped out by the time voting starts.

Ramaswamy is probably going to back Trump, but if Haley and DeSantis come to a deal, say Haley gets VP if she sacks DeSantis, and they announce that partnership before the election, they are then within striking distance of Trump.

Everyone wants to know why Trump continues to hit DeSantis so hard… that is the reason why.

Believe me, Trump’s team has run these numbers and they know if DeSantis is within 10-15 points in polling and they are heads up, this is a whole new ballgame.
