Santos Refusing to Resign Amid Expulsion Effort
Polarizing Republican Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is not going down without a fight.
After a scathing House Ethics Committee report was released, the committee chair made known his intent to file an expulsion resolution against Santos.
Also facing 23 federal indictments, Santos has stated that he refuses to resign, and he will not go down without a fight.
Fight Back
You guys know my stance on this already… I have made it quite clear that due to his fraudulent resume, and lying to voters, he should have been removed from office even before all the scandals hit.
Santos is now facing 23 federal indictments, mostly related to fraud and campaign finance violations, as he was allegedly dipping into campaign funds for personal expenses.
A lot of the fault for him even appearing on the ballot goes to Ronna McDaniel, the RNC Chair, who, as part of her responsibilities, should be vetting potential candidates.
She clearly was not doing that, and what is more infuriating about this is that after the first reports came out about Santos, it was a running joke among aides and media members that they knew all of this and were waiting until after the election to expose it.
So, if the media knew he was a fraud, how did McDaniel and McCarthy not know it?
Even so, with the deck stacked against him, Santos is spouting off about how unfair this all is.
He stated, “This expulsion vote simply undermines and underscores the precedent that we’ve had in this chamber.
“It starts and puts us in a new direction. A dangerous one that sets a very dangerous precedent for the future.
“Are we to now assume that one is no longer innocent until proven guilty?
“Or are we now to simply assume that because somebody doesn’t like you, they get to throw you out of your job?”
I would have loved to have had the floor right after him because I had the perfect response.
Courts of law are for due process… Congress is a privilege, not a right, and he lost that privilege when he deceived voters with his bogus resume.
I firmly stand by my call from the outset to have him removed from Congress.
