Santos Refers to His Husband, but Nobody Knew…

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is full of surprises these days.

Santos, who was expelled from Congress on Friday, recently revealed that he was married.

That was surprise number one, and now we are finally getting some details as to the lucky, or unlucky man is, depending upon your view of Santos.

Outing His Husband

As far as I have been able to tell, nobody even knew Santos had been married until he made a post after the death of Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA).

Santos had posted, “My husband Matt and I are heart broken [sic] by the news of the passing of Senator Feinstein.

“Our condolences to the Feinstein family as they grieve this grave loss.”

The post created quite the buzz at the time not about Feinstein, but rather about the fact that Santos had apparently been married and nobody knew about it.

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-N.Y.) former communications director, Tim Hogan, posted, “Did George Santos just hard launch his husband… with the passing of Senator Feinstein?”

Then, on October 2, Santos finally revealed his husband, posting…

Before the “hard launch,” Santos had never mentioned his husband “Matt,” so you can see where the confusion comes from, as well as people questioning if it is a real marriage or just another made-up fantasy by Santos.

Santos, again not mentioning Matt by name, made a claim in January 2021 that he was engaged, posting, “My fiancé and I had to leave our home this evening with our four dogs thanks to the @nytimes publishing of my Instagram showing me attending the #MarALago New Year’s Eve party.

“My fiance, a pharmacist who worked 12 hr/7 day shifts for nine months, was fired! The violence against us is real.”

Santos’ website very briefly mentioned that he had a husband, but that was scrubbed not long after it was put up.

The only “real” marriage that had ever been reported to this point also appeared to be a sham.

The Daily Beast had reported that Santos was married to Uadla Vieira Santos, a Brazilian woman, but his housemates claimed she was only a friend and very rarely seen with him.

Santos was expelled from Congress on Friday, not because he lied to voters about his resume, but due to an Ethics Committee report and 23 federal charges, mostly for misappropriating campaign funds for personal expenses.
