San Diego Officials Ask Biden to Close Border Amid Terror Concerns

Officials in California's San Diego County are asking Joe Biden to use some common sense regarding the border.

Members of the city’s GOP leadership want Biden to close the border amid rising terror threats.

This comes after FBI Director Wray testified before Congress that we are seeing a significant rise in terror threats in this country.

Why Biden and Mayorkas refuse to budge on this, especially with the war in Israel, is just baffling.

If they cared about the security of this country even a little, these borders would already be on lockdown.

San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond appeared alongside El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells and other local Republicans, stating, "It’s time to close the border to new immigration.”

While speaking, Desmond referred to a recent Customs and Border Protection (CBP) memo.

In part, it stated, "Foreign fighters motivated by ideology or mercenary soldiers of fortune may attempt to obfuscate travel to or from the U.S. to or from countries in the Middle East through Mexico.”

The memo specifically mentions Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Hezbollah.

We have discussed this exhaustively in the past, citing that special interest alien encounters are on the rise, which is a significant concern when you consider the vetting issues we have seen in the past as well as the overall number of gotaways over the last three years.

CBP responded that it "has seen no indication of Hamas-directed foreign fighters seeking to make entry into the United States.

"It is the policy of CBP to neither confirm nor speak to potentially improperly disclosed information or internal documents marked as law enforcement sensitive or for official use only.

"In general, CBP provides frontline personnel a wide range of context for situational awareness in order to ensure they remain vigilant in fulfillment of our homeland and border security missions. Situational awareness briefs are not threat assessments."

Just because they have not seen evidence of that activity does not mean it is not happening. You better believe if terrorists are sneaking into this country, they are using the cartels to mule them over the border in areas where the CBP has little to no coverage to eliminate the risk of detection.

Desmond continued, "Given these statistics and the national security issues going on out there with the war in the Middle East and with terrorists wanting to kill not only people in the Middle East but also here in the United States we don’t want to have open and porous borders."

We agree… shut the border down.
