Sam Rubin Dead of Heart Attack at Age 64

Iconic entertainment reporter Sam Rubin has passed away.

Rubin was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after suffering a heart attack.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It was later determined that Rubin had gone into full cardiac arrest.

The beloved commentator was just 64 years old.

He has left behind his wife and four children.

His network, KTLA 5, took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to share the tragic news.

“KTLA 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin. Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world, and a fixture of Los Angeles morning television for decades. His laugh, charm and caring personality touched all who knew him. Sam was a loving husband and father: the roles he cherished the most. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family during this difficult time,” KTLA wrote in the heartbreaking post.

Maybe the most tear-jerking moment of this all was when his fellow anchor, KTLA’s Frank Buckley, mad the announcement of Rubin’s passing on air and broke down in tears crying.

“We have some news from the KTLA family, which is shocking and hard to comprehend at the moment. We have the profoundly sad duty to report that our friend and colleague Sam Rubin has died,” Buckly said.

“Our hearts as you can imagine, are broken. Quite simply, Sam was KTLA. From the time on the KTLA morning news to the many award shows and other shows he hosted, his laugh, his charm, his caring personality…” Buckley continued.

That was the moment Buckley became too choked up to speak.

“To all of us his shared his mornings with on television, and to those he worked with behind the scenes at KTLA, we will not forget him,” Buckley said through the tears.

“The role that he cherished most was husband and father. His wife Leslie, his kids Perry, Rory, Darcy and Colby, our thoughts are with you and the rest of Sam’s family,” Buckley said.

Sam Rubin had been with KTLA since 1991.

There are not many who are lucky enough to say they touched so many lives during their time on earth.

The words his colleagues had to say about him truly paint a picture of someone who had life figured out.

It is never easy to lose a loved one, especially so quickly and unexpectedly.

Our hearts go out to anyone grieving the loss of the amazing human being that was Sam Rubin.
