Russia sentences American Journalist Evan Gershkovich to 16 years in prison

The White House is likely PANICKING over the latest news surrounding America and Russia.

Evan Gershkovich, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, has been sentenced to 16 years in Russian prison after Russia found him guilty of “gathering secret information.”

Now, he is facing the possibility of spending over a decade and a half in a Russian penal colony.

President Joe Biden has to know what is coming.

After he made a shocking prisoner exchange to free Olympic gold medalist and WNBA player Brittney Griner, America is going to want answers and action from the president.

Biden has now released a statement on Evan Gershkovich’s conviction.

“Today, Evan Gershkovich received a sentence of 16 years in a Russian prison, despite having committed no crime. Rather, he was targeted by the Russian government because he is a journalist and an American. We are pushing hard for Evan’s release and will continue to do so,” Biden began.

The president went on to commend Gershkovich’s “remarkable strength.”

“We will not cease in our efforts to bring him home. And Jill and I are holding Evan and his family in our prayers,” Biden continued.

It is hard to know if Biden actually intends to keep his word, or if his statement is purely a public relations move.

The Wall Street Journal has also released a statement regarding the recent conviction.

“Evan’s wrongful detention has been an outrage since his unjust arrest 477 days ago, and it must end now. Even as Russia orchestrates its shameful sham trial, we continue to do everything we can to push for Evan’s immediate release and to state unequivocally: Evan was doing his job as a journalist, and journalism is not a crime. Bring him home now,” wrote the Journal.

Do you think Biden will actually follow through with bringing Gershkovich home?
