Rosalynn Carter Enters Hospice Care

Heart-wrenching news about former first lady Rosalynn Carter has been announced.

The wife of former President Jimmy Carter has been placed in hospice care at the age of 96 due to her dementia diagnosis.

Mrs. Carter will join her husband Jimmy Carter, who has been under such care for quite some time. President Carter entered hospice earlier this year after multiple brief stays in the hospital.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have been married for 75 years.

Jimmy Carter has made it to the age of 99, which has earned him the title of having lived longer than any past president in the country's history. No matter how you feel about the former president, you have to admit that living to such a ripe old age is an impressive feat.

Now, he and his wife are spending quiet time together and enjoying visits from family and friends.

While Mrs. Carter has received a devastating dementia diagnosis, there are not many who get to say they lived such a long and full life.

Many would count themselves extremely lucky to have led the life she has lived.

Rosalynn Carter has seen and accomplished a lot in her days on this earth, spending four years at her husband's side at the White House from 1977 to 1981.

After those years came to a close, she continued to spend time as a tireless mental health advocate. There’s a very real possibility that many who have struggled with the heaviness of poor mental health and have come out the other end victorious owe a large portion of that victory to her and the work she put into the movement.

Mrs. Carter even received the Presidential Medal of Freedom alongside her husband back in 1999 for their philanthropic legacy.

Now, with however much time the former first lady may have left, she is choosing to spend it with her husband and her family.

It seems that this is one former first lady who has always had her priorities in life sorted out correctly, even in her final stretch of time on earth.
