Ronna McDaniel was someone that a lot of people wanted replaced as the RNC Chair, myself included.
She was struggling for a minute, then Donald Trump came in to throw his support behind her, and everyone followed.
McDaniel has made several moves that have challenged Trump, but her most recent interview on Fox News had quite a few veiled shots at Trump.
You Have to Listen
I honestly believe that McDaniel does not want to see Trump win this primary.
Immediately after securing the chair for another term, she announced that she would be requiring a pledge of loyalty from anyone that participated in the sanctioned debates.
As a candidate, you would have to pledge your support for whoever came out on top, something that Trump has yet to say he would do.
She then set up venues that had Trump less than thrilled, with Trump threatening to skip the debates. Then there were rumors that Trump was going to set up an unsanctioned debate with Tucker Carlson as a host, only I am not sure anyone else would show up for that one.
Now, listen to this interview she recently had on Fox News…
Right out of the gate, she stated that she wants to get away from crazy and more common sense, and I think we can all agree that “crazy” and chaos is what Trump thrives on.
Toward the end of the interview, she is asked about Trump going after DeSantis, and McDaniel suggests that we move away from that and start focusing on beating Joe Biden.
Without unity in the party, there is no win because we are outnumbered significantly by Democrats in this country.
If there is a divisive primary, regardless of who comes out on top, we will lose, even to Biden, a point I have made many times.
McDaniel does not have the guts to openly tell Trump to dial it down or to say that she does not want him as the candidate, but make no mistake about it, she was addressing him in those comments.
