RNC Drafting Proposals to Block Payment of Trump Legal Bills

Donald Trump has pressured Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel to step down.

It was reported on Monday that she will step down on March 8, after Super Tuesday is done.

Trump has already backed his daughter-in-law to be co-chair, which led to resolutions being drafted by the RNC to ensure the campaign funds are not going to pay Donald Trump’s legal bills.

Show Me the Money

If you recall, this has been my primary worry since Trump announced that he wanted Lara Trump as the co-chair.

Lara then immediately told the media that every penny that comes into the RNC will be dedicated to Trump.

Since Trump has already received payment for legal bills via his campaign, his PACs, and the RNC, there was immediate concern that Trump was making this move to line up more money for his legal woes.

RNC member Henry Barbour drafted one of the proposals, which stated, "The Republican National Committee must serve as a neutral player in primaries.”

It continued that the RCN should not "contribute money or in-kind aid to any candidate for any public or party office of that state, except the nominee of the Republican Party or a candidate who is unopposed in the Republican Primary after the filing deadline for that office."

A second proposal stated, "Spending any RNC financial resources for any candidate's personal, business, or political legal expenses, not related to the 2024 election cycle, does not serve the RNC's primary mission of helping to elect our candidates in 2024.”

Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita went ballistic, stating, “The primary is over and it is the RNC’s sole responsibility to defeat Joe Biden and win back the White House.

“Efforts to delay that assist Joe Biden in the destruction of our nation. Republicans cannot stand on the sidelines and allow this to happen.”

This would all be fine if they were being transparent about where they are spending the money, but his campaign, his PACs, and the RNC never disclosed that until after the fact when reports were filed, and a lot of donors were upset that tens of millions of campaign dollars were being used to pay Trump attorneys for his legal problems.

To be honest, the money for the RNC is supposed to go to support candidates up and down the ballot, and they will not be able to do that if they are paying Trump’s legal bills.

Some may not agree with me, but let me put it this way… if the RNC cannot support down-ballot elections in the House and Senate, Democrats will likely hold the Senate and retake the House, making Trump a lame duck who will not be able to accomplish anything while in office.
