Republicans look to impeach second judge who ruled against Trump
Just as we had predicted, Donald Trump is facing significant judicial resistance over his executive orders.
The administration and Congress have taken exception to this.
To that point, Republicans are moving against a second judge, hoping to impeach the judge for impeding a presidential administration.
Remove Them from the Bench
As Biden’s administration wound down, more than a few Republicans missed judiciary votes, which allowed Biden to fill the judiciary in his waning days with liberal judges.
These days, we all know judges are more activist than jurors, and Trump is paying for it now.
U.S. District Judge John Bates is about to feel the wrath of the party, as Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) is leading the effort to have Bates removed from the bench.
Bates halted Trump’s executive order regarding transgenders, ordering that all government websites restore information regarding gender ideology.
Just as it would for the president, impeachment must pass through the House with a majority and then pass through the Senate with a two-thirds majority in order to remove the judge from the bench.
They may get this past the House, but it will die in the Senate, and I am not sure that is a bad thing.
Nobody is thinking long-term here, and that is the problem, and I include Donald Trump in that.
He is making all these moves to expand presidential powers, but what happens when a Democrat gets back into the White House?
Let these cases play out because they will all eventually end up before the Supreme Court, and if Trump’s orders are valid, they will stand up.
Regarding these judges, people seem to forget that the law is interpreted by these judges in different ways, depending on their ideology.
It seems crazy, I know, as it should be a level playing field, but let’s not forget all the times that Biden was overruled by a conservative judge when his orders were challenged.
This is just the way the game is played, and again, I am thinking long-term and big picture here.
The GOP is looking to set what I believe will be some very dangerous precedents in terms of expanding powers, and eventually, the Democrats will win back the White House.
If we extend all these powers for Trump, what happens when they are back in power?
