Republican Rand Paul opposes Donald Trump's Labor secretary pick
We live in a divided country right now.
As a result, Donald Trump has been counting on Republicans siding with him on almost every issue, because he knows Democrats in this country are going to be working their hardest to derail our 47th President's plans.
Senator Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, has decided that he's not going to set aside what he believes is right to agree with the president just because they're from the same party.
Rand Paul is indicating that he does not plan to support the confirmation of Donald Trump's Labor Secretary nominee, former Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer.
Paul doesn't think that he's the only Republican who might oppose the nomination of Chavez-DeRemer. He predicted she would "lose 15 Republicans" but "get 25 Democrats."
"She might get all the Democrats. Who knows?" Paul added.
Although Rand Paul isn't all-in on Chavez-DeRemer, Donald Trump certainly is.
When announcing Chavez-DeRemer as his pick for the post in 2024, Donald Trump said "Lori has worked tirelessly with both Business and Labor to build America's workforce, and support the hardworking men and women of America."
Lori Chavez-DeRemer also has the support of AFT union President Randi Weingarten:
Chavez-DeRemer's "record suggests real support of workers & their right to unionize," Weingarten said. "I hope it means the Trump admin will actually respect collective bargaining and workers' voices from Teamsters to teachers."
Trump's pick is a former Representative who lost her congressional re-election bid in 2024.
Rand Paul said that one of the reasons he's opposing Chavez-DeRemer is because of her support for the PRO Act, which Paul said would "pre-empt state law" regarding "right to work."
Do you agree with Rand Paul's decision to take a stand for what he believes in? Or should Republicans realize how difficult Democrats are making things on Donald Trump and put aside their personal feelings to support Donald Trump?
