REPORT: Walz Lied About Hong Kong Trip

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has an affinity for enhancing his personal history, and it would appear that he has done it again.

Walz previously claimed that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre, but that does not appear to be true.

A new report seems to show that Walz was actually home in Nebraska when this event took place.

Pants on Fire

During a 2014 congressional hearing, then-Rep. Walz (D-MN) stated that he was in Hong Kong at the time, heading to a teaching position.

At the time, he stated, "I was just going to teach high school in Foshan in Guangdong, and was in Hong Kong in May of ’89.

"And as the events were unfolding, several of us went in. And I still remember the train station in Hong Kong.

"There was a large number of, especially European, I think, very angry that we would still go after what had happened, but it was my belief at that time that the diplomacy was going to happen on many levels."

This story has been unchallenged by the media, and Walz has repeated it often, but that is all about to change.

Local news reports at the time in question show that Walz was actually home in Nebraska at the time.

According to the report, he did not leave for China until August of that year, several months after he claimed to have arrived.

Walz can be seen in one local report touring a National Guard facility in Nebraska in May 1989.

There is also a report in the Chadron Record at the time that announced that Walz had been accepted into the teaching program and then reported that Walz "will leave in early August and spend at least a year in the nation."

When Walz’s story was challenged by Minnesota Public Radio’s APM Reports this week, Walz’s office was unable to show any proof that Walz had been in Hong Kong while the massacre took place.

The same report revealed that Walz lied about how many times he went to China, exaggerating his total by roughly 100%.

I am the first person to call out Donald Trump when he lies or exaggerates, so you better believe I will call out Walz for his constant lying.

The man is incapable of telling the truth, yet he will probably “aw shucks” his way through the VP debate and once again, the campaign and the media will claim that he merely misspoke.
