REPORT: Trump Organization May Try to Take Back Wollman Rink in Central Park

For decades, the Trump Organization ran Wollman Rink, the ice skating rink in Central Park.

After the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, then-Mayor Bill de Blasio pulled the contract.

Now, however, the Trump Organization believes is the perfect time for it to make another run to take the management of the rink back.

We’re Back

At the time the contract was pulled, Mayor de Blasio stated, “Inciting an insurrection against the U.S. government clearly constitutes criminal activity.

“The City of New York will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization.”

With the city now accepting proposals to run the rink, Ron Lieberman, executive vice president of the Trump Org, believes now is the perfect time for Trump to jump back in and take the rink back over.

He stated, “We ran it beautifully for decades and we plan on doing so again.”

Lieberman added, “We are going to respond to the RFP (request for proposals). I am submitting a proposal. We ran Wollman rink flawlessly for decades.

“It makes so much sense for us to come back. No one is in a better position to run the rink than us. It’s natural for us to step back in.”

After Trump was removed from the project, a not-for-profit joint venture took over management of the ring.

State Republican Party chairman Ed Cox is all for Trump taking the rink back after having saved it from city mismanagement nearly four decades ago.

When Trump first took over the rink, he wound up bringing the project in well under budget, even drawing praise from Mayor Koch, who, at the time, had a bit of a feud going with Trump.

After the project was completed, the Trump Organization stated, “We are incredibly proud to have saved these beloved icons and have been the proud caretaker for many decades.

“Our team ran a flawless operation that provided a memorable, safe, and enjoyable experience every single day for New Yorkers and visitors from around the world.

“We are tremendously proud of the programs we have built and the legacy we leave behind. We hope that these properties will continue to thrive and be cherished.”

All I know is that if Trump does wind up taking this project back over, Democrats are liberals are going to have a complete and utter meltdown.
