Report: Trump association with Laura Loomer sparks rumors, concerns within campaign

Former President Donald Trump has never been one to let media pundits dictate his conduct, but there is one area of his life that has been making headlines in sufficient volume as to give his closest advisers pause.

What some suggest is Trump's unusually close association with independent journalist Laura Loomer has prompted concern within his campaign, according to NBC News, and hints from certain corners that a romantic affair could even be afoot have now prompted threats of litigation.

Looming large

A conservative activist based in Florida, Loomer's presence in Trump's orbit has become more noticeable in recent weeks, and given her penchant for outspoken and often incendiary commentary on the days' events, certain advisers to the GOP presidential hopeful have reportedly sounded the alarm.

As the Independent explains, particular worries have emerged due to Loomer's attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, which critics say have been characterized by racist language and imagery.

Loomer's actions and her newfound access to Trump are reportedly raising concerns that votes in key battlegrounds could be lost as a result of the connection between the two.

One key Trump ally held little back, saying, “She has to go. Laura Loomer cannot stay. She just can't. She is unapologetic. This woman attacked the vice president of the United States in such a racist manner. It was appalling and she hasn't apologized.”

Another Trump confidant revealed that the former president himself was informed in no uncertain terms, “If you don't fix this, it will be a problem.”

Maher weighs in

Comedian and Real Time host Bill Maher offered his own take on the situation, riffing on Loomer's prior comments about pop star Taylor Swift and NFL standout Travis Kelce possibly being part of a manufactured relationship in order to sway the election.

“I think maybe Laura Loomer's in an arranged relationship to influence the election because she's very close to Trump,” Maher mused.”

Maher went on, saying, “She's 31, looks like his type,” and after wondering with whom Trump might be sharing romantic rendezvous of late, he added his belief that “it's not Melania. I think we may have our answer this week.”

In response to the insinuation of an affair, Loomer shot back that she may consider suing Maher for defamation, noting that the had never seen “such a coordinated attack by the mainstream media, the White House and leftist personalities to target a private citizen and investigative journalist.”

Loomer labeled the claim “unacceptable” and a “full blown lie” that she finds “incredibly disrespectful to President Trump and first lady Melania Trump,” but whether the controversy will continue to escalate in the coming weeks, only time will tell.
