REPORT: Trump and Putin Have First Call Since Election

On Thursday, reports surfaced that Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin shared a call.

During that call, Trump reportedly told Putin not to escalate the war with Ukraine.

Now, however, the Kremlin is denying any such call took place.

Playing Games

Among other outlets, the Washington Post was among the first to report the story, claiming that its sources had details of an alleged call between Trump and Putin.

The Post reported, “During the call, which Trump took from his resort in Florida, he advised the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s sizable military presence in Europe, said a person familiar with the call, who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter.

“The two men discussed the goal of peace on the European continent and Trump expressed an interest in follow-up conversations to discuss ‘the resolution of Ukraine’s war soon,’ one of the people said.”

After supporting Harris in the election, Putin flipped and tried to grease the ways with Trump after he was announced as the winner.

Now, however, the Kremlin is denying the call ever took place.

After a weekend of reports that Trump was already putting Putin in place, the Kremlin stated, “There was no conversation. This is completely untrue, it is pure fiction.”

The Trump camp has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the report from the Kremlin.

Now, you guys know I hate these anonymous sources' stories, and this is why… they seem wrong more than they are right, but nobody is held accountable because the sources are all unidentified.

It should be easy enough to prove the call took place with phone records, so we will find out who is lying soon enough.

If the Post got it wrong, shame on them for not demanding phone records for proof of the claim by its anonymous source.

If the call did happen, I would say the denial was solely to try to save face for Putin, who came off as weak in the report in the Post.

Regardless, this is not the start anyone wanted to see between Russia and the United States, but I would not be too concerned.

Putin and Trump have a history, and Putin knows there is no way Trump is going to allow this war to carry on during his administration.
