REPORT: Six Key Democrat Senators Mulling Retirement

Come 2024, the script will be flipped on Democrats in the Senate.

In 2022, it was Republicans defending more seats, but in 2024, Democrats have to defend 23 of the 34 seats that are up for re-election.

Several of those seats have Democrats that have lost favor and could lose.

To that point, there are rumors of possible retirements rather than facing defeat at the polls.

Time to Go

Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) has already announced that she will be stepping down. Her seat is now a primary target for Republicans in the battleground state.

Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia to Sen. Jon Tester of Montana are also possible candidates for stepping down, especially Manchin.

Manchin’s approval ratings have tanked and West Virginia is edging closer to a red state, so it may be time for Manchin to step aside. The election would already be hard fought with him in there, but if he steps aside, I feel pretty confident a moderate Republican could steal that seat.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has to retire, right? She is 89 years old and walks around the Capitol clueless as to what is going on. I just cannot imagine that she will take another stab at the office.

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) has yet to announce, and courtesy of Governor Youngkin, Democrats have been put on notice in the state. This will not be a walkover for Kaine this time around.

Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has been having medical issues, recently diagnosed with cancer. And Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) is looking at a tough battle just when Democrats thought they had turned the state. Had Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) lost, I think Baldwin would have run automatically, now, however, she may be hesitant.

If the GOP held its seats and won just half of those seats, they have the majority. Now all we need to do is get rid of Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), or least remove him from his leadership position.
