Well, Rep. Adam Schiff's (D-CA) political future just took a major hit.
We already know Governor Gavin Newsom is lurking in the wings, hoping that Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) retires before her term is over so he can appoint a black female replacement.
The story just got a bit more interesting with reports surfacing as to whom the number one name on that list is, reports the New York Post.
Can't Compete
The general consensus has been that if Feinstein retires, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) would get the appointment by Newsom.
If she is holding that seat, it would make it very difficult for Schiff to take her out, which is why Nancy Pelosi has her daughter helping Feinstein right now. Pelosi is supporting Schiff, so she wants to make sure that come hell or high water, Feinstein finishes out this term.
A new name has popped up, however, that would virtually assure that Adam Schiff lost the race.
That name… Oprah Winfrey.
Now, to this point, Winfrey has not hinted that she even wants a political career, so these rumors may just be to put a feeler out there to see if she would actually be interested in taking on such a role.
In the past, it was quite the opposite, actually, as Winfrey has put to rest rumors when she was campaigning for Stacey Adams in Georgia.
At the time, she stated, "I am not here because I am making some grandstand, because I'm thinking about running myself. I don't want to run. I am not trying to test any waters, don't want to go in those waters," reports Fox News.
If, by chance, she has changed her mind, there is no way that Schiff would have any chance of beating Oprah in a primary.
I am all for anything that gets Schiff out of our government, however, so Oprah is not sounding too bad to me right now. If it means that clown is gone, it could be worth it.
