REPORT: More Than $300 Million of Infrastructure Bill Headed to Buttigieg’s Alma Mater

The amount of money the government blows on useless experiments and funding that is not necessarily needed is outrageous.  

Much of this winds up to make our politicians look like big shots.  

Case in point, that massive infrastructure bill by Democrats has more than $335 million marked for Harvard University.

The money the government is sending to Harvard is federal funding for the I-90 Allston Multimodal Project, an estimated $1.9 billion project. 

This is something that has been on the books for about a decade, with its initial funding requests being denied.  

That, of course, was before Pete Buttigieg took over as Secretary of Transportation and Harvard had an in to a presidential administration.  

Keep in mind, that this is a school with a $53 billion endowment, yet Buttigieg is going to funnel taxpayer dollars to help fund a project the school could easily absorb on its own.  

One assessment of the project stated, “[Harvard] stands to make a killing on real estate development when the project’s infrastructure is finally built. 

“The Commonwealth’s taxpayers have already been generous to Harvard where this property is concerned.” 

After Buttigieg was appointed, Ivy League’s executive vice president Meredith Weenick wrote to the Secretary of Transportation in the hopes of having the application revived.  

In part, the letter stated, “Harvard is pleased to have the opportunity to support MassDOT’s application by both memorializing future-looking commitments and outlining the foundational steps undertaken by the University to support this Project over the last two decades.” 

Buttigieg’s office justified the funding, stating, “This project aims to modernize and improve the safety of Boston’s Allston neighborhood and is being led by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which is in charge of putting together the project’s financing. 

“This is just one of 66,000 locally-led infrastructure projects underway so far across every state and community in the country thanks to $568 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.” 

Again, just take notes of the people on the Republican side of the aisle who backed this bill knowing full well they were handing Harvard a stack of cash in the process.
