REPORT: Melania and Ivanka Trump in Power Struggle During White House Days

Melania Trump, as you may or may not know, was never one to seek out the limelight before becoming First Lady.

Even during her days as a supermodel, you would not find her seeking the lens unless she was in front of it doing a job.

Reports are now surfacing that she and Ivanka Trump were in a bit of a “power struggle” during the Trump presidency.

Fight It Out

If you recall, Melania was late getting to the White House when Donald Trump won the election so that Barron Trump could finish his schooling.

Even then, however, Melania seemed to favor staying out of the limelight, giving press conferences and statements only when absolutely necessary.

According to a new book, “American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden,” this led to a bit of a power struggle between Melania and Ivanka, with Ivanka apparently trying to gobble up some of the First Lady’s duties.

This tension reportedly started right out of the gate, with Ivanka taking advantage of Melania’s absence to attempt to remodel the East Wing of the White House.

The book claims that Ivanka’s plans were to take over what is generally considered the turf of the First Lady to make the area “geared to serving the entire First Family, not just the First Lady.”

Donald Trump, at the time, even stated that Ivanka would be helping Melania in this role, which apparently did not sit well with Melania.

The author wrote, “She was aware that her husband had suggested that his eldest daughter would be helping to share the responsibilities of being First Lady, and this was not a development that pleased her.”

This started a battle with Ivanka that apparently never subsided until Trump’s term was over.

Ivanka nor Melania have ever commented on this, so if we assume that the author properly vetted this information, it could very well explain why Ivanka Trump has been so adamant that she would not work in her father’s administration if he gets re-elected.
