Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been telling anyone that will listen that Chicago will welcome illegal immigrants to her city.
That is because she has a plan.
While Chicago is a sanctuary city, Lightfoot has chosen to ship the illegals to suburbs, and local mayors are unhappy about it.
We Love Them. Now Get Rid of Them
So far, about 300 illegals have been sent to Chicago, and more are on the way.
Rather than keep them in Chicago, Lightfoot has started to have them shipped to other cities in Illinois.
For instance, reports surfaced this week that about 100 migrants were sent to a Hampton Inn in Burr Ridge.
That is outside of Cook County, which is a sanctuary county.
Burr Ridge Republican Mayor Garry Grasso is already on the record saying he wants to defund sanctuary cities, so it is a pretty safe assumption that Burr Ridge is not a sanctuary city.
I would also venture that DuPage County, where Burr Ridge is located, is not a sanctuary county like Cook County.
Mayor Grasso is livid, stating, "I'm the mayor of the village, I should have been told.
"I'm as frustrated as Mayor Lightfoot was in her not being told.
"I'm frustrated but we're dealing with the situation and I'm going to keep my residents and my businesses apprised."
Ironically, it was only a few days ago that Lightfoot called out Abbott for the same thing, stating, "There could be a level of coordination and cooperation, but he chooses to do none of those things.
"Instead, he chooses to send human beings across the country to an uncertain destination."
Lightfoot's office has not responded to requests for comments on this matter.
