REPORT: Intelligence Community IGs Resigning Before Trump Takes Office

Well, the mass exodus in our government agencies has started.

According to breaking reports, the Inspectors General from the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) are going to resign their posts before the next administration takes over.

This is likely only the first wave of resignations that will take place before Trump takes office or immediately thereafter.

What Are You Running From?

I find it quite disturbing that the individuals tasked with overseeing the integrity of these agencies are going to walk solely because Trump is coming into office.

If they have been doing their job, what should they be concerned about with the change of administration?

The fact they are going to resign tells me they were either covering for Dems or they are so biased they cannot work for a Republican president.

I don’t see why Trump’s appointments would necessarily scare these IGs.

John Ratcliffe, who previously served as the DNI, has been tasked with leading the CIA.

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-AK) has been tasked as the new DNI.

The Project on Government Oversight (POGO) reported, “One of the departing inspectors general, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Thomas Monheim, first took his watchdog role after Trump fired his predecessor Michael Atkinson in the spring of 2020. Atkinson had transmitted a whistleblower complaint to Congress that sparked Trump’s first impeachment in 2019.”

The report continued, “Monheim and his counterpart at the CIA, Robin Ashton, were both nominated by Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2021 (Monheim began serving as acting inspector general the year before, during the first Trump administration).”

Trump has vowed to strip down the government, but these IG positions are not likely to be part of that trimming.

However, they may feel that Trump will fire them anyway to get his own people into these posts, so they are now cutting and running to save face and make a few waves.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am very much looking forward to Trump dismantling our government to eliminate redundancy and waste.
