REPORT: Hegseth May Release Accuser from Confidentiality Agreement

Things are really starting to heat up regarding the nomination of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.

As soon as Trump nominated Hegseth, past sexual assault accusations came to light.

Even though the local DA's office dismissed the allegations, Hegseth paid the woman off to make the story go away, but reports are not stating that Hegseth may release his accuser from her NDA, which would allow her to testify during the Senate vetting of Hegseth.

No Name, No Complaint

Even though police investigated these allegations and no charges were ever filed, these allegations continue to play a major role in the Democrat's resistance to Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense.

There are also a fair number of Republicans who have questions about this and Hegseth’s alleged drinking problems, also allegations made anonymously against Hegseth.

Senator Graham (R-S.C.) has stated he will not take anonymous allegations into consideration, but he also stated that he would want to be sure someone being appointed to such a position was innocent of such allegations.

So, it appears that the only way Hegseth truly gets around this is to allow the Senators to question the alleged victim and decide for themselves.

To that point, Graham stated, "However, if people have an allegation to make, come forward and make it like they did in Kavanaugh. We’ll decide whether or not it’s credible."

The alleged incident took place in 2017, with the incident being fully investigated by local police, then the file was sent over to the Monterey County DA’s office, with no charges ever being filed.

Hegseth had and continues to maintain that the relationship was consensual between them.

Republicans will hold a 53-47 edge against Democrats, but those three votes they have to spare appear to be taken by some moderate members of the GOP that have not signed off on Hegseth just yet.

Senators Murkowski (R-AK), Collins (R-ME), and Ernst (R-IA) have expressed resistance to Hegseth, but both Collins and Ernst have met with Hegseth and have since softened just a bit.

The danger for Hegseth is that regardless of how hearings go with the accuser, they will say she is a credible witness and he cannot be confirmed. This is just going to be a nightmare for Trump in the media.
