REPORT: Garth Brooks Considering Leaving Country Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
In October, one of the legends of the music industry was accused of sexual assault.
I am speaking of Garth Brooks, who, at his height, was arguably the most popular figure in the industry.
He has been since knocked off that perch, and reports are now speculating that he may be considering moving to Ireland to avoid his case.
Time to Roll
According to reports, Brooks was accused of sexual assault and battery by a former makeup artist for the singer.
Brooks denied the allegations from the start, stating, “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another.
“We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”
During a recent Facebook stream, Brooks hinted that he and his wife were considering buying a home in Ireland.
Brooks stated that he and his wife “fell in love” with the country during a recent run of shows, and now his wife is “pushing hard” for them to get a house there.
Brooks has addressed the situation repeatedly, saying that it is taking quite a toll on him.
He recently stated, “I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now.
“I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
According to the complaint, the accuser was raped during a trip for a Los Angeles show.
The report claimed, “Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers.
“Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room.”
She then claimed that Brooks denied her request for her own room, then showed up in a doorway naked, grabbed her by her ankles, and raped her.
After the alleged attack, she continued to work for him on the trip, saying that she needed the job.
My opinion here is that I think some of these outlets are taking his interest in a home in Ireland a bit too far in terms of speculating that he is running away from the charges.
Since Ireland does have an extradition treaty with the United States, and considering Brooks’ clear intent to clear his name, I just don’t see him “fleeing” to Ireland to try to escape the charges.
He may buy a home there, but it will not be to escape this case.
