REPORT: Capitol Visitor Arrested with Machete and Knives

Earlier this week, Donald Trump was due to arrive in DC for the Jimmy Carter memorial events.  

On Wednesday, reports surfaced that a man had been detained by local authorities prior to the Trump appearance.  

He was detained because he was allegedly trying to sneak in a machete and several knives.  

What Was He Thinking? 

Police have announced that Mel J. Horne, 44, was arrested and will be charged.  

US Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger stated, “Our officers know they cannot let their guard down for one second. 

“It is this constant focus and attention to detail that helps keep this campus safe.” 

Police explained the incident, stating, “During security screening at the CVC’s [Capitol Visitor Center’s] north doors, our officers spotted a machete in the man’s bag, stopped the X-ray machine, arrested the man, and secured the machete. 

“Three knives were also found in the bag, along with the machete. Security screening was temporarily stopped at the north side of the Capitol Visitor Center while we investigated.” 

I am not sure how this man expected to get through the screening process with his weapons, so a shout out to the police for doing their jobs and stopping this man before he could do any damage.  

Trump was scheduled to arrive at the Capitol on Wednesday night to pay his respects to Jimmy Carter, who has been lying in repose.  

As I have stated before, it has been relatively quiet on this front, eerily so, but I still believe all hell will break loose on January 20 when Trump takes office.  

I would love to be wrong... I hope I am wrong.  

If we get past that day without incident, I have hope this country can finally start to heal and move forward.  

However, if what I expect to take place happens, we are in for another wild ride over the next four years.
