REPORT: Biden Regrets Garland Pick After Delays in Trump Prosecution
Merrick Garland was the golden boy of the Democrat Party in terms of the judiciary.
He was Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee who Republicans blocked in the waning days of his administration after the death of Justice Scalia.
Biden then appointed Garland as his Attorney General, a decision he now reportedly regrets after the delayed prosecution of Trump.
Bad Decision
A report surfaced this week that Joe Biden has had some regrets about appointing Merrick Garland as his attorney general.
First and foremost, he is surely upset that Garland allowed the prosecution of Hunter Biden, but that does not appear to be his biggest regret.
Biden still apparently believes he could have won re-election and has privately expressed anger about Garland not bringing Trump’s cases to bear earlier so Trump could have been fully prosecuted before the election.
A report in the Washington Post stated, “In private, Biden has also said he should have picked someone other than Merrick Garland as attorney general, complaining about the Justice Department’s slowness under Garland in prosecuting Trump, and its aggressiveness in prosecuting Biden’s son Hunter, according to people familiar with his comments.”
Garland was reportedly pushed on Trump by former Chief of Staff Ron Klain.
When Garland was selected, it was widely considered a consolation prize for Garland while also being considered a slap in the face to the Republican Party for having blocked him as a Supreme Court Justice.
As far as conservatives have been concerned, Garland has been a complete and utter failure.
I am honestly not sure there is anything that Garland could have done to get Trump into the courtroom earlier.
While I have been very critical of Trump’s attorneys for their skill in the courtroom, they have been masterful at having these cases delayed, filing a ridiculous number of motions that required delay after delay in the cases.
When you consider Trump has only one friendly judge in all of these cases, that is a rather remarkable achievement by his legal team.
