Rep. Tlaib fails to condemn Hamas after it attacks Israel, killing hundreds

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) spoke out against Israel's "occupation" on Sunday but failed to condemn Hamas after its attacks.

Hamas launched terror strikes on Israel Saturday, killing hundreds of people and injuring over 1,500 others.

“I grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day. I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity,” Tlaib said.

“The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.”

Israeli Knesset member Danny Danon blasted Tlaib's statement as his nation faces violent attacks.

"This response is simply beyond belief. While even the worst Israel bashers denounced the barbaric attacks by the Hamas terror group against innocent Israeli citizens,@RashidaTlaib is unable to condemn the atrocities and instead insists on mourning the death of terrorists," he wrote.

"Even more incredibly she calls on Israel to respond to the massacres with concessions. Fortunately, this supporter of terrorism does not represent the American people who stand firmly by Israel. @RashidaTlaib you are a disgrace," he added.

Tlaib has long been vocal in her criticisms of Israel, referring to the nation as an apartheid state.

The statement also comes as the Biden administration announced its support of Israel, recognizing its ally's need to defend itself against the attacks.

The weak response by Tlaib is a shocking embarrassment among Democratic lawmakers that should be swiftly and strongly condemned by fellow American leaders.
