Rep. Stefanik Demands Resignation of Columbia President

Things got a little heated on the Hill last week.

Columbia University President Minouche Shafik was in the hot seat to testify about rising antisemitism on its campus.

When Rep. Stefanik (R-N.Y.), a frontrunner for Trump’s VP, got her shot at the president, she demanded her resignation.

Earlier in the day, Columbia Rabbi Elie Buechler had issued a warning, which was not the precursor that Shafik probably wanted to hear as she headed to the Hill to testify before committee.

The Rabbi told students, “It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home as soon as possible and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved.”

Protests have been taking place all around the country, but Columbia has been a hotbed of sorts, with students from other schools coming onto campus to create havoc.

It has gotten to the point that Jewish students are now fearing for their lives, often choosing remote learning over in-class participation.

I have to say, if I were a parent paying the more than $60,000 tuition bill, I would be livid that the school is not doing more to protect these students.

To that point, Stefanik stated, “Over the past few months and especially the last 24 hours, Columbia’s leadership has clearly lost control of its campus putting Jewish students’ safety at risk.

“It is crystal clear that Columbia University – previously a beacon of academic excellence founded by Alexander Hamilton — needs new leadership. President Shafik must immediately resign.”

Former state Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who now heads the Americans Against Antisemitism, celebrated the demand by Stefanik, posting, “President Shafik of Columbia: Get the hell out of the way. Resign immediately. ‘Never Again’ is a lie!”

Just imagine paying all that money and the school allowing students to support terrorism, let alone outside students trespassing on school grounds to threaten tuition-paying students.

Pay $60,000.. and your kid is stuck at home taking classes via Zoom. It’s pathetic, but that is the nature of today’s liberals and the Democrat Party.
