.@RepMattGaetz and I have a long and productive working relationship, that I am sure will continue. I regret that I briefly lost my temper on the House Floor Friday evening and appreciate Matt’s kind understanding. https://t.co/8GmbJHO3cK

Gaetz soon responded with his own words and an acceptance of his fellow GOP congressman's apology.
"@RepMikeRogersAL and I have a six-year productive, working relationship. We're going to work together wonderfully going forward," Gaetz tweeted.
"I don't think there should be any punishment or reprisal just because he had an animated moment. He has my forgiveness," he added.
Fox News noted the timing of the confrontation on Friday.
"The confrontation came shortly after the 14th vote for House speaker failed, with Gaetz being one of a handful of Republican lawmakers who were holding Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., back from securing the gavel," the outlet reported.
"Rogers angrily approached Gaetz shortly after McCarthy spoke to him, but was held back by Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C.," it added.
The tense moment was one of many frustrating moments as the nation watched lawmakers spend an entire week to select its speaker, hoping that the process speeds up after the leadership selection to help the American people.
