Rep. Donalds Says Walz Owes Minneapolis Citizens an Apology

Republicans have declared all-out war on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

They are examining every aspect of his record, but one area they have really focused on was the George Floyd rioting.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who has been a bulldog for Trump during this campaign, called Walz out, saying he owed the city of Minneapolis an apology for allowing the streets to burn.

Apologize!

There are many different stories about Walz's job during the rioting right now.

He clearly let things get out of control, yet Trump, at the time, thought Walz was doing a good job, which is why I find it odd that Republicans are going after him on this front, including Trump.

At the time of the rioting, Trump stated, "I know Governor Walz is on the phone, and we spoke, and I fully agree with the way he handled it the last couple of days."

Now, I guess that does leave the door open to say that, to that point, Trump did not agree with how he handled it, but that is a rather fine line to walk.

Regardless, Donalds went after him, stating, “Absolutely, he should [apologize]. You’re the man in charge, like, you’re in charge.

“Everybody gets to have their political viewpoints; I’m not going to take away from Tim Walz’s political views. I disagree with them. I think they’re very radical, but he’s entitled to them.”

Donalds continued, “But, when he talks about taking care of the people who are under your care as the governor of a state, you have a responsibility to put that stuff aside and do what’s necessary for the people under your care. So, he should apologize to them.”

Now, some Democrats have also called out Walz on his response to the rioting, with Democrat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey being critical of Walz in an August 2020 interview, saying that Walz “hesitated” to call in the Guard.

Frey stated that he had called Walz as the rioting was starting to get out of control, stating, “We expressed the seriousness of the situation. The urgency was clear.

“He did not say yes. He said he would consider it.”

The rioting had started on May 26, and Walz called in 90 National Guard troops on May 28, after two full days of the streets being on fire.

I will let you guys make the call on this one… Did Walz drop the ball or do you think he handled the response properly?
