Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) is not happy.
There has been resistance within the GOP Party from the first day that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) won the nomination election in the GOP caucus.
He was warned by this resistance that unless he heard and committed to some of their demands, he would not win the Speaker’s election on January 3.
Well, he put it off, and now election day is here, and McCarthy has already lost three ballots on the first day.
Crenshaw Peeved
I have always had mixed feelings about Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX). I respect the hell out of his service to this country but he has not been impressive as a member of Congress other than adding to his bank account.
He has been among the top earners in the stock market since joining Congress, as well as penning a book to cash in on all the media attention he got after taking office.
Now he is pissed because there is a contingent of Republicans, 18 of them, not willing to go with the flow and do business as usual.
First, listen to what he says about this group…
Virtually everything he said is a lie.
McCarthy was given a list of demands, and they clearly did not expect to have them all met.
He may not agree with all of their proposals, but some of them are very much on the table for many Americans such as myself.
Specifically, the single-issue legislation issue.
I also liked the idea of being able to call for the removal of the Speaker if he or she is not doing their job and delivering on promises.
I have no idea where most people stand on this and if I am in the minority or majority, but I like the idea of them holding out to get their agenda incorporated into McCarthys’ agenda.
I am 100 percent against anyone going along with the party for the sake of the party because the party is not always right.
That is exactly what happened in the Senate when they re-elected McConnell and look how that turned out.
McCarthy can fix this by coming to the table but if he wants to play tough guy with his own party, then he will continue to look foolish.
