Federal Chair Jerome Powell Removed from Room Amid Protests

Protests are popping up all over the country, and that would include a recent event where Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell was present.

Powell was giving a speech in New York City at the Economic Club of New York.

As he was at the lectern, a group of climate protesters ran on stage, forcing security to remove Powell from the room until they could get the situation under control.

Climate Change Protesters

This is far from the first time climate change protesters have disrupted an event, and it will not be the last.

In this case, they were chanting, "End fossil fuel finance.” They were also holding up a sign that read, “FED is BURNING Money Futures Planet” At the bottom of the sign it read, “Climate Defiance,” which was more than likely the name of the protesting group.

It did not seem like they were there to do anyone any harm, just a bunch of whackos going for their 15 minutes, and they got it.

Regardless, better safe than sorry, so Powell was rushed out of the room.

He eventually came back on stage, discussing, inflation, monetary policy, and the broader U.S. economy.

This is now the second time in as many weeks that this group has interrupted a Biden administration event.

If you recall, last week, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was confronted by a protest, demanding that he stop fossil fuel infrastructure projects.

This is likely to become more commonplace now that Biden has approved new drilling in Alaska and, more recently, just gave the thumbs up for the expansion of a domestic pipeline. He did this amid requests by Democrats to kill the project.

This is a big deal because if Biden loses the green crowd, it will take a nice chunk out of his base, which will make it even harder for him to win.

Those people will never vote for a Republican, but we don’t need their vote. If they stay home and sit on the couch or vote for a third-party candidate, that serves our purposes just fine.
