Russian President Vladimir Putin sounds panicked.
He is now about seven months into a war that was supposed to take three days to win.
To put it bluntly, he is running out of bodies.
So, Putin is activating his reserves and calling back former military members to rustle up enough troops to keep this party going.
Bombs Away
Putin may be activating as many as 300,000 additional troops to go to Ukraine.
Not only that, but he is also now threatening to use nukes against the West.
Putin addressed his nation on Wednesday morning breaking the news to Russian citizens.
He stated, “We are talking about partial mobilization, that is, only citizens who are currently in the reserve will be subject to conscription, and above all, those who served in the armed forces have a certain military specialty and relevant experience.”
He added, “When the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, to protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal.
“It’s not a bluff.”
Putin also seemed to take a shot at Biden’s speech that specifically called out Putin during the UN General Assembly this week.
Putin stated, “Statements of some high-ranking representatives of the leading NATO states about the possibility of using nuclear weapons of mass destruction against Russia.”
The move by Putin is being considered an act of desperation by analysts.
Russian political analyst Dmitry Oreshkin added, “People will evade this mobilization in every possible way, bribe their way out of this mobilization, leave the country.”
I never got the feeling the people of Russia were truly behind this war in the first place, so I cannot imagine this call-up will be sitting well with them now.
