Senator Kelly Pushes Back on Biden Border Crisis

Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) is not pulling the party line regarding the crisis at the border.

Kelly, having just secured another term, is calling out Biden on the border crisis.

To his credit, he took this stance during the election in what most of us believed was just a front to be elected, but he appears to be ready to hold Biden accountable.

Don't Get It

Speaking with the Washington Post, Kelly was asked if Democrats fully understand the ramification of the border crisis.

He responded, "Absolutely not. Not even close.

"When I first got to Washington, it didn't take me long to realize that there are a lot of Democrats who don't understand our southern border and a lot of Republicans who just want to talk about it.

"Don't necessarily want to do anything about it, just want to use it politically."

I will say two things to that response.

First, most Democrats do not even want to admit there is a problem at the border, let alone do something about it.

Second, what exactly does he expect Republicans to be able to do?

The Democrats have both chambers right now, so all Republicans can do is talk about it and bring the situation to light.

With the chambers now split, we can expect to see legislation coming from the House next year, but what will Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Democrats do with it once it passes to the Senate?

Kelly stated, "I'm an optimist on this stuff.

"We still have a situation where a lot of Democrats don't really understand it and a lot of Republicans just want to talk about it and use it for political purposes.

"But I'll tell you what, I think there are enough of us who understand it and want to accomplish something."

The thing that scares me about this is the lack of backbone by McCarthy in the House and the fact that Schumer has made it quite clear that he wants amnesty as part of any immigration deal.

Sadly, he already has a few Republicans in the Senate that are also on board with this.

It was bad enough when Trump was offering amnesty for three million, but Schumer is now talking more than 11 million.

My faith in McCarthy's ability to hold firm is not exactly high right now.
