President of U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation stepping down

The president of America's Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) is leaving her position at the "end of summer."

Perhaps not coincidentally, USCCF is currently the focus of a major government investigation regarding improper donations.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark has announced that President Carolyn Cawley of the affiliated USCCF is not going to survive the scandal.

An internal memo from Clark revealed that Cawley would be "leaving the Chamber at the end of the summer."

"Sharing the news that Carolyn will be leaving the Chamber at the end of the summer is bittersweet," Clark said in the internal memo. "We began thoughtful conversations earlier this year about her desire to focus on a much more personal endeavor."

Clark added in the memo that Michael Carney, who had served as the senior vice president for the USCCF, was being promoted and will now serve as the president of the USCCF.

Interestingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, Clark did not address the huge investigation regarding donations the USCCF had received from the Tides Foundation.

At the beginning of May, Republican Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri launched an investigation into the Unites States Chamber of Commerce and its associated USCCF foundation.

While results of the investigation have not gone public yet, it's not hard to realize that there's already been some pretty serious problems uncovered if Cawley is already stepping down.

The USCCF recently disputed a Breitbart News report detailing the alleged wrongdoing but did not point out "anywhere where there was any alleged factual inaccuracy in any of the Breitbart News stories."

It really is hard for regular Americans to tell what's going on behind closed doors with these people.

Stuff like this tells me that sometimes it's almost better not to know, but then again, that's probably exactly the attitude they want us to have.

Be careful out there, friends.
