There have been more than a few signs that Joe Biden could call it quits and open the door to another candidate for the 2024 Democrat primary and general election.
Biden is polling very badly, his family is being targeted by the GOP with several investigations, and the media is finally coming after him.
For that reason, Democratic pollster John Zogby believes that Joe and Kamala could both be looking for an exit strategy.
Give Someone Else a Shot
The big issue for Democrats right now is Kamala Harris. She is less popular than Biden, so she is not a viable alternative if Biden decides to step away.
This means that Dems need to somehow get her to agree to also step away and find another home for her where she saves face.
Zogby stated, “Will we see Joe Biden step aside, drop out, and if he does, will there be a clue, and by that, I mean, will Kamala Harris step down as vice president and be appointed to a special position?
“That would be a signal that Biden may be stepping down and realizing that in stepping down, he would need to help the party block Vice President Harris from being the nominee of the party,” reports the Washington Examiner.
He then pointed to the recent cocaine scandal at the White House and how people immediately pointed the finger at Hunter, even though it is unlikely he had anything to do with the cocaine.
Zogby continued, “I’ll put it this way, after an unprecedented barrage of coverage of the president over the last three-four weeks consistently portraying significant weaknesses, all while Gavin Newsom is emerging in the spotlight, this breaking news appears to up the ante.
“The Biden family or staff may very well have nothing to do with this. But how will the public ultimately perceive it following the recent string of relentless negative portrayals?”
Even the silly stories are becoming a problem for Joe Biden right now.
For instance, just the other day, he emerged from the White House with lines on his face, which were reportedly from using a CPAP machine for his sleep apnea, and it raised more medical questions about Biden’s fitness for office.
This was mostly the case because the White House never disclosed the condition, so the media pounced.
Joe does not like getting treated badly, so, at some point, will he throw up the white flag?
Zogby seems to think that is the case, but I am going to hold firm that Joe runs because I think he feels as though he needs to run to protect his family from prosecution. Time will tell…
