PM Benjamin Netanyahu to Undergo Hernia Surgery

There was a bit of a shocking announcement this weekend regarding the health of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu recently had a medical checkup that led to the discovery of a hernia.

According to report, he will soon undergo surgery to address the hernia.

Going Under the Knife

According to Netanyahu’s office, he went in for his regular checkup on Saturday, which his when the doctor’s discovered the condition.

His office stated, “Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin will serve as acting prime minister.”

The timing of this could not be worse for Netanyahu, who has been under considerable criticism for his war against Hamas.

This even went to the point that the United States, much to Netanyahu’s chagrin, did not block a U.N resolution calling for a cease-fire in the war.

Netanyahu was so livid over the sleight that he canceled an Israeli delegation that has been scheduled to come to the United States to discuss the situation with the Biden administration.

The White House expressed bafflement over the cancelation, but Netanyahu made it clear that he felt crossed by the Biden administration for showing what he believed was a lack of open support for Israel.

Israel has been open to a cease-fire, but it has stated repeatedly that the cease-fire will not be permanent, as well as stating that no cease fire will take place unless it includes the release of all remaining hostages.

The New York Times reported this weekend that Israel’s war cabinet is expected to convene to continue to discuss cease-fire negotiations, but I am not sure what else there is left to negotiate when Netanyahu has made his plan clear.

I would conclude with just this one thought… this wavering by the Biden administration in regard to supporting Israel is only causing Hamas to be bolder in its demands.

As long as Hamas sees weakness, it will continue to posture in a war that it knows it cannot win at this point.

You cannot allow a terrorist organization to live because it will recover and likely grow back stronger than it was before if given the time.

As I have stated many times, in my opinion, there is only one position in this war, and that is to stand behind Israel.
