Piers Morgan Challenges Trump to Join First Republican Primary Debate

Fox News host Piers Morgan has challenged former President Donald Trump to appear at the first Republican presidential primary.

Morgan mentioned the importance of Trump's appearance during a discussion Tuesday with former Trump staffer Kellyanne Conway.

“Donald Trump is many things,” Morgan said. “But in all the time I’ve known him, I’ve never known him to duck a challenge or be a coward."

"So, if you’re watching, Donald, come on," he urged in his words to the former president.

Conway confirmed that she also believed Trump should join the debates.

“The more people who run, the more competition, the better for Donald Trump,” Conway said of the crowded GOP field. “Trump loves competition. I think he should show up to the debate.”

“He’s way ahead,” she stated. “He’s got very little to gain, but why stay at home and watch them all talk about you?”

The challenge came as it was announced that Tucker Carlson will host a presidential forum next month ahead of the first debate. Five of the top candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, will be involved, but Trump was not listed.

Some of the concern is also based on the expectations of the Republican National Committee during the formal primary debates. The group expects participants to commit to supporting the eventual nominee, something Trump has been reluctant to do.

The calls for Trump to join the debate are growing but it's unclear whether they will help convince the former president to participate.
